About Joel
Joel was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. After graduating high school at Robert Usher Collegiate, he studied Political Science at the University of Regina. During his undergraduate studies, Joel was awarded the Academic Gold Scholarship in 2013, Academic Silver Scholarship in 2014, and was on the Dean’s Honour List for 2012 and 2013. In 2014, Joel received a Bachelor of Arts Degree (with distinction) from the University of Regina. In 2015, Joel was accepted into law school at the University of Saskatchewan and awarded the Kanuka Thuringer LLP Entrance Scholarship. Joel obtained his Juris Doctor from the College of Law in 2018.
After law school, Joel moved to Alberta to practice as an articling student in Grande Prairie, Alberta. In November of 2019, he was called to the Alberta Bar. In 2021, Joel began the process of obtaining his Trust and Estate Practitioner Designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners of Canada (STEP). In 2022, Joel was accepted as an Associate Member of STEP after completing a course on the taxation of trusts and estates.
In 2023, Joel accepted an offer with Willows LLP to practice in his home town of Regina. At Willows, Joel maintains a general solicitor’s practice but focuses mainly on corporate law, real estate, trust law, estate planning, and estate administration. Joel specifically enjoys helping clients plan for the future to ensure they maximize their savings and minimize their stress.
In his free time, Joel enjoys fishing, kayaking, and camping.
